This page explains exactly how the site is paid, by whom, and what that payment does and does not influence. It is written so that a reader can check the claim rather than take it on trust.

The arrangement, in plain terms

Lucent Works, published by Ivan Kukulnyk s.r.o., carries affiliate links to the World of Warships website. Those links are served through an affiliate advertising programme. When a reader follows one of them and completes a registration on the vendor's side — which the programme defines as signing up, downloading the client, and creating and activating an account — the programme pays this publisher a commission.

Three things follow from that, and each one matters:

• The reader pays nothing extra. Following an affiliate link does not change the terms offered by the vendor, does not add a fee, and does not alter anything about the account created.
• The commission is paid for a registration, not for spending. This publisher receives the same amount whether a reader never spends a cent in the game or spends a great deal. Nothing here is improved by a reader buying anything.
• The advertiser does not review this site's copy. Pages are written by the publisher. The programme supplies a link and a short set of facts about the product; it does not approve, edit or commission the text around them.

Which links are paid

Every link on this site pointing to the World of Warships website is an affiliate link. Each one carries a note directly beside it saying so, in ordinary text rather than in fine print, and each is marked in the page code as a sponsored link so that search engines and browsers can identify it. Links open in a new tab and the destination address is the affiliate programme's own; nothing on this domain rewrites, cloaks or redirects them.

Links to Australian government bodies — the ACCC, Scamwatch, the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the eSafety Commissioner, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the Australian Classification Board and the Australian Taxation Office — are not affiliate links and earn this site nothing. No arrangement of any kind exists with those organisations, and none of them endorse this site.

What the money influences, and what it does not

It would be dishonest to claim a commercial relationship has no effect, so here is the honest account.

What it does determine: which product is named. World of Warships appears on this site by name because it is the product this publisher has a commercial relationship with and documented material about. There is no wider review programme here, and no claim to survey the market.

What it does not determine: what the pages say. The order in which sections run, which drawbacks are written down, which limitations of the product are stated, and which government resources are cited are all editorial decisions made by the publisher. Specifically, the affiliate relationship has not stopped this site from recording that the promotional code documented with the programme lapsed on 31 January 2025, that Linux is unsupported, that this publication has tested nothing, and that a game selling randomised items is not presented here as suitable for children.

What decides the coverage instead: whether a question is one a reader in Australia would actually need answered before installing a game, and whether it can be answered from documented material or from a source that can be linked. Where neither is possible, the page says the information is not available rather than inventing it.

Why the site is funded this way

The alternative funding models each carry a cost to the reader. Display advertising requires third-party scripts and, in practice, tracking. Sponsored content blurs the line between what is paid for and what is not. Newsletters and lead generation require collecting personal information that a site like this has no reason to hold. A single disclosed affiliate relationship, paid on registration rather than on spending, keeps this site free of all three: it sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no third-party code and collects nothing from readers, as described in the privacy policy and the cookie policy.

What this site is not

Lucent Works is an independent publication. It is not the official website of World of Warships, not a partner, reseller, authorised distributor or support channel, and not endorsed by any product mentioned on it. Nothing on this site should be read as a recommendation by a vendor, and no vendor has reviewed or approved any page here.

World of Warships and all other product names, logos and brands mentioned on this site are the property of their respective owners. Lucent Works is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.

The legal position in Australia

Australian Consumer Law prohibits misleading or deceptive conduct in trade, and it applies to a publisher making claims about a product just as it applies to the seller. Disclosure of a commercial relationship is part of not being misleading, which is why it appears on the homepage, beside every paid link and on this page rather than in a single line in the footer. Guidance for consumers is published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission at accc.gov.au.
